Summer Solstice

Photobucket

We have now past the longest day of the year and what better way to celebrate the going down of the sun at a blissful 10:30pm than to surf till the final spec of pink has plunged beyond the western horizon.

Jack, Alex & I walked down the steep dunes at Penhale, Cornwall looking across to the breathtaking greenery and the dying swell. The boys were super keen to get wet as they thought it would be flat the following day, and it was my last surf before returning to Whitley, House of the Jackson 5 pit stop before flying to Sri Lanka on Friday. From above the waves looked poor, although I did manage to find a bowly left and thoroughly enjoyed dodging the mountainous number of jelly fish.

The stillness of the water, the gracious setting of the sun and the warmth my 5:3 winter suit gave me; all added to a memorable British summer surf.
