Amandine's coffee machine means the world to her. Since she was far from home she needed to find that particular item she could recognise and remind herself of her loving George.
When one personifies an object they do so with the intension of giving it attributes in which he or she can identify with. The love for coffee and addiction to caffeine has stimulated the imaginative mind within; and it has stipulated the need to love this embodied gadget!
