On My Way to Sri Lanka

I sit here, wide awake, earphones in, Daft Punk blaring, as the boys twist and turn in their economy plus seats beside me struggling to find a comfortable position to rest their heads. Only their dreams can be highlighted as a pleasure on this 10 hour flight through the night. Alice in Wonderland was a calming introduction to the wonderland of imagination at dinner and was complimented nicely by the alcoholic consumption in hopes of steading the heart rate. It is their dreams of what will make this long travel well worth induce them into a comatose state. Dreams similar to the footage of the WQS Sri Lankan Airlines Pro which was held the previous week. Dreams of what or who we have left behind.

Alike the countries I have been fortunate to dip my toes into in the past 2 months I will be confronted with a whole different way of life and I await our arrival with true anticipation. Not looking forward to our next obstacle though, the 10 hour bus ride to the eastern side of Sri Lanka, Arugam Bay . Hopefully I too will be lured into the dreaming state.

Photos

A necessary thing one must accept when traveling frequently is the fact that as you move on objects may be unfortunately left behind... for example camera cables. Lucky the local Currys sells a 'Multicard Reader'!!

Here are some of my photos from each destination

Summer Solstice

Photobucket

We have now past the longest day of the year and what better way to celebrate the going down of the sun at a blissful 10:30pm than to surf till the final spec of pink has plunged beyond the western horizon.

Jack, Alex & I walked down the steep dunes at Penhale, Cornwall looking across to the breathtaking greenery and the dying swell. The boys were super keen to get wet as they thought it would be flat the following day, and it was my last surf before returning to Whitley, House of the Jackson 5 pit stop before flying to Sri Lanka on Friday. From above the waves looked poor, although I did manage to find a bowly left and thoroughly enjoyed dodging the mountainous number of jelly fish.

The stillness of the water, the gracious setting of the sun and the warmth my 5:3 winter suit gave me; all added to a memorable British summer surf.

The Art of Personification - discovered in Morocco!

George
Photobucket
  • the name of Amandine's Nespresso machine in her beautiful home, Anglet France.
  • the name of Amandine's crab, given to her by the fisherman in the small town far far away from Imssouane. (Perhaps a marriage proposal?) - it was however female, which was a surprise/shock when it came to dinner time!
  • the name of Amandine's second crab, that she received from a kind surfer of Imssouane, Azar. - this time it was a male!
  • the name of the donkey Amandine rode the day she didn't receive a crab from a potential crush...
Amandine's coffee machine means the world to her. Since she was far from home she needed to find that particular item she could recognise and remind herself of her loving George.

When one personifies an object they do so with the intension of giving it attributes in which he or she can identify with. The love for coffee and addiction to caffeine has stimulated the imaginative mind within; and it has stipulated the need to love this embodied gadget! Who is of coarse very attractive, tasty and perfect in every way... the machine that is.
